With 2017 coming to a close, Qualico Communities has had an exciting year full of growth and expansion. From the grand opening of a new community, releases of new community phases and fun events residents were able to take part in, there was a lot to celebrate. Plus, there are many new plans in the works for the new year that we cannot wait for you to be a part of.
Here are some of our highlights from each community in 2017 and what you can expect to see happen in 2018.
Qualico Communities
Qualico Communities' commitment to sustainability is core to our culture and embedded in our communities. Outside of the communities we build, we believe there is also a role for us to play. That is why we were proud to announce the extension of our partnership with the Manitoba Region of the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) until the end of 2019.
Qualico Communities and the individual communities around Manitoba have been growing and we have so much to share with you. That is why we have added this new Qualico Communities blog. There is so much to look forward to in the new year, so make sure to bookmark this page or follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Sage Creek
September was a big month for Sage Creek with the opening of the brand new state-of-the-art École Sage Creek School. The Early learning to grade 8 school is home to 600 students and provides students and teachers the flexibility to learn in several different ways and different environments.
This new concept incorporates ‘Learning Neighbourhoods’ that groups together six classrooms around a central common space for flexible instruction, team teaching and group learning.
The Village Centre has become an integral part of Sage Creek, bringing new business and amenities to our residents and surrounding areas. This year, the Village Centre was busier than ever and we are looking forward to many new additions in 2018. This includes the new Sage Creek 55+ Apartments well under construction and opening this coming fall.
A new and improved Willow Tunnel on the Sage Creek Nature Trail was built this past May. The Nature Trail is designed for kids and adults to enjoy and is located in the dry pond just north of Tallgrass Crescent, between the Hydro Corridor and Blvd des Hivernants.
The growth in Sage Creek is continuing with new lots being released throughout the community. Keep an eye out for announcements for the release of phases 8 and 9 coming later in the year.
Oak Bluff West
Oak Bluff West saw a lot of growth in 2017 and it is truly becoming a full community. There were many lots sold and new home builds going up around the neighbourhood. If you are new to the Oak Bluff West, we’d like to welcome you to the community!
This year, Casselman Crescent was extended which opened up 23 brand new lots. There will be more opportunities to build in Oak Bluff West with the release of lots in Phase 3B, which will be available next year. Have a look at where that phase is located on the Oak Bluff West lot map.
RidgeWood West
Ridgewood West has seen a large amount of growth in the community and is really becoming an exciting community to live in.
With the help of Qualico Communities, a brand-new Residents’ Association was formed in Ridgewood West. The Ridgewood West Residents’ Association (RWRA) is a group of volunteers who are dedicated to the community and making it a better place for all residents and neighbours.
One of the first efforts you can expect this coming year from the RWRA is fundraising for a community playground. This playground will be an exciting feature for the community that will provide residents and their kids a place to enjoy the outdoors and natural surroundings in Ridgewood West. Taylor Farm
The first six show homes opened for the Fall Parade of Homes with a launch party for builders, residents, and dignitaries who helped make the community happen. The show homes received hundreds of visitors over Parade who were curious to see what the community and our builders have to offer.
In 2018, you’ll have the chance to live alongside the banks of the Assiniboine river in this brand-new community with the much-anticipated river lots, soon to be released.
As the community continues to develop, there will be new additions, including beautiful trail markers and the very first sitting area with a historical and interpretive panel to learn about the community’s rich history.
